It is normal for it it to run in the 32 bit space, as Symantec has a hard time programming 64 bit; they are to busy pumping out java code for Endpoint (with plenty of problems). Symantec is really getting sloppy it can't uninstall itself
Try the Microsoft uninstaller
If this does not work, I have gone into the registry, searched on Symantec, carefully deleted most entries, other then legacy entries. After this you need to search the server directories for any Symantec folders relating to Symantec AV, and delete them.
Don't forget to exclude some or all of the folders below if you have Active Directory.
