I run NAV 2003 at home, and it installed into Outlook, and whenever I send/recieve email, I can see NAV in the system tray scanning each email individually in/out.

However, NAVCE I've setup at work doesn't do the same.

If a Virus (Beagle seems to be popular this week) arrives in my inbox, it's not scanned/pickup or ANYTHING until I click on it. Which to me in unsatisfactory. The second you open it (or preview pane), NAVCE kicks in and stops it. THEN, it renames the mail, and emails me saying, "user x recieved a virus from person y" which I've configured.

I want the email scanned before it shows up in the users inbox. If it's detected, send the user (and myself) an email telling them they recieved a virus and it's been quarantined.

How can I do this?

Using latest symantec AV Corp Edition 8.1.0.821

Filter/scan the mail at the server so it doesnt even get to the client.

Install Norton Mail Security 4.0 which will scan the email as it arrives at your mail server. It's not part of the base package, it's a separate purchase/license.

Faithless gets my vote, you ALLOW virus's to be delivered? Eeeeek! I use AntiGen from sybari to scan for naughty's and remove them. It also automatically quarentines attachments that I deem unnecessary since anti virus scanners are reactive and cannot detect new virus's I do not allow the delivery of any attachment that can contain a payload.(.exes, .bats, .pifs the usual).

I run NAV CE 8.1. and would trust it on its own to protect my email, you sound savvy but a lot of folk with email are not!

Just my tupence worth.

SAVCE 8.1 is for the OS. If you want something to stop it at the server lander215 is right SMS 4.0 or SAVFMSE 3.02 will take care of your problem.
