A strange one...

Every couple of hours I keep getting this entry in the application log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Symantec AntiVirus
Event Category: None
Event ID: 31
Date: 01/11/2006
Time: 19:05:26
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:

License is invalid. Symantec AntiVirus will not update virus definitions.

Then, ten minutes later, I get this entry:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Symantec AntiVirus
Event Category: None
Event ID: 37
Date: 01/11/2006
Time: 19:15:40
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:

License is valid. Serial ID: *******.*. Expiration date: 2007-06-29.

I tried searching Symantec support site with no luck.

Has any one come across this?

Yes Tony, I have the same problems, it started few days ago.

I also google'd it and nothing.

I resolved this by clearing the cache and run a discrovery cycle.

Open the Symantec System Center, go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Discovery Service'. Click on 'Clear Cach Now' and then click on 'Run Dicovery Now'.

When you close and re-open the SSC, all should be well. You may need to re-sort the licenses but the error goes away.
