if you have a 9x server it cannot update 10x clients. But a 10x can update 9x clients... BUT you need to set it to do it.
in the system center you right click the server.. all tasks.. antivirus.. server tuning.
Make sure the following box is checked. "Allow this server to manage 9x and earlier clients and servers".
A reboot on the server is required before this change can tack effect.
