I started getting an error mesage "WAOL caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff87edc" everytime I close AOL.

Symantec's and Microsoft's sites say it's probably being caused by an infection from either the W32/KRIZ.3862 or W32/KRIZ.4092 virus.

I have an up-to-date version of Symantec's 2002 Anti-Virus installed on my computer (W98). I've run a full scan. No virus is found. Should on run an online Symantec scan too? Should I download the free utility: Fixkriz.exe that Symantec offers on their site?

Does anyone have any idea as to what/what else might be triggering this error messsage? Or how else I might detect/remove W32/KRIZ.3862 and W32/KRIZ.4092?

Thanks.

Howdy:

As per Microsft, this can also cause the problem...

This behavior can occur if more than one version of AOL is installed on your computer. Under this scenario, two versions of the same file may be installed. As a result, the program may stop responding or quit unexpectedly when AOL attempts to access one of these files, and you may then receive the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact AOL for assistance to remove the additional instance (or instances) of the AOL installation on your computer.

After you have removed the additional instance of AOL from your computer, run the Microsoft Internet Explorer Repair tool. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then click Add/Remove.
When the Internet Explorer dialog box appears, click Repair Internet Explorer, and then click OK.
