My question is about installing Symantec CE 8.1 on a new server. My old server is being retired and I have about 30 clients attached to it. What I want to know is how to transfer the clients from the old server to the new without having to reinstall on the clients. I've done the following:

1. Built new server
2. Installed SAV on the new server
3. Selected the option "Make Server a Primary Server" on the new server

Do I need to transfer the clients from the old server to the new? If so, how? Instructions for doing so are not readily apparent.

Thanks in advance...

So I figured out I could just reinstall the client computers using the NT install utility. It seems to work pretty well without having to modify anything directly at the client computers. I tested it on a couple of computers which seems to have worked well. Does anyone know if there is a drawback to doing that?

Thanks,

Not particularly, except that performing any mass installation is fairly likely to cause one or two machines to go wonky, what with MSI being so fragile. It never fails. But theoretically, that should be fine.

Thanks for the reply. As you said, the mass installation went well, except for a few clients. I'm finding that copying the grc.dat file per Stiddy's link's instructions is working well. Thanks again for the help!
