Symantec 460 router issues (Messenger drops,Alt. Ipsec clients?)..

I have an SGS460 router.. for some reason, periodically on our LAN.. things will start acting up.. anyone with MSN Messenger or AOL will get disconnected and keep reconnecting periodically.. Once I reset the router things seem to smooth out.

We also have internet slowdown issues, every now and again.. again, only going to the router and hitting the power button fixes this issue...

As a side issue.. Has anyone successfully been able to use an alternate IPSEC client.. other than Symantec Client 8.0? I'd like to not have to be locked into their product, but I've been unable to get any other clients to connect...
