All Sybase Admins,
I'm really requiring some basic knowledge. First off
I'm not a DBAdmin, but I guess I'm going to learn
SQL etc. So with that said I want to query this
group for some general help.
I have just been given an old Sybase DB, this DB resides
on a Unix Solaris platform and we DO NOT put any
data into it. Its pretty much static and just sits and
performs its job. So what I need to know is the following:
1. How do I determine the information currently in the
database?
2. How do I determine the structure and "setup" of
the database?
3. Why is the database using 6 slices of my drive? (Same
as question 2 really).
4. Is it possible to "view" the data in the database?
I think if you could give me some SQL commands and a little
information about what I am looking at exactly then I could
pretty much figure the rest out, with of course some
queries to the net.
TIA
