One extension (SS4025) has Message Waiting Indicator flashing. All Voice Mail messages have been cleared, but light still flashes. Usually when this happens I press the upper right hand button that says "MESSAGE"; "Call me back" displays; I press "YES"; "Erase - Call - More" Displays; I select "ERASE"; and the MWI stops flashing.

This time, when I press "MESSAGE", "No Messages" displays and the light stays flashing. When I "LOC FEA EXT 2187", it tells me "Message Waiting Lamp On" and "Dialed Message Waiting". I have never seen "Dialed Message Waiting" before this.

We have Redundant SX2000s. I tried an Activity Switch; but the light still flashes.

Has anyone come across this before and does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,
John

look up your message waiting deactivation code in the feature access codes and dial it followed by the extension that is flashing.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Unless.....

Sometimes the dialled message waiting is dialled by the console - in this case then only the console can actually remove the message from the extension.

I think anyway....

Another extension on a different (networked) or tandem PBX can also cancel "dialed" MWI from a console.

To PREVENT THIS from happening again...
Go into ALL your active class of service forms and set Disable Send Message = YES
and
Message waiting = NO

The ONLY class of svc where you want DSM = no and MW = yes would be in the class of service assigned to your voice mail ports. In all other active CLOS these fields should be as indicated above

hello

or the message could be a call back message set by the console

CCNA,CCNP,CCVP
HP AIS
Full Mitel

Thank you all.

kwbMitel's suggestion for the "message waiting deactivation code" got rid of the "Dialed Message Waiting" in LOC FEA EXT.

Then a trip to the phone to press the "MESSAGE" button, then "YES"; then "ERASE"; and the MWI stopped flashing.

Thanks to everyone else for your contributions

John
