A little picture of our setup:

PSTN --> PRI --> SX2000 --> PRI --> Asterisk

There are handsets/extensions on both PBXs.

With the help of the users of this forum, we have caller ID "flowing" between our SX2000 & Asterisk server.

If I dial from an extension on the Mitel to an extension on Asterisk, the Mitel passes the number as well as the name over the PRI from the Mitel's Directory. (I did have to set the PRI card to DMS100 as opposed to NI2/Bellcore to get the name passed for whatever reason...)

If an outside call comes into the Mitel that is destined for an extension on the Mitel, the number & name both display for the called user.

My problem is that if the call is destined for an extension on the Asterisk server, only the number is passed through the PRI to Asterisk.

MY QUESTION(S): Can the SX2000 pass the CNAM through when the call is rerouted? If so what could potentially prevent it? Should I try another protocol like 4ESS, 5ESS, etc?

Thanks for your time-

Follow up: After finding out that the CSS trace command existed (CSS TRACE ENABLE CONTINUOUS), I placed some test calls that came in the main PRI and right back out the other PRI to Asterisk.

From what info I've been able to scrape together, apparently the caller name is transmitted in a separate FACILITY IE (at least on NI-2 PRIs).

The trace appears to suggest that because the caller name is passed separately, the SX2000 is forwarding the call out to Asterisk before the caller name is received on the Mitel. This issue has been encountered with Asterisk also, and there is a simple fix: wait 1 second before you route the call.

That leads to a new question: Is there any way to tell the SX2000 to wait a second before routing the call out the other PRI?

Even if it is possible, I certainly have no idea if the Mitel will forward it along anyway...

Thanks-
