I started a thread thread1329-1755694 on this subject some time ago. Please click on the thread link and read it before reading this new thread. I need to take that thread a step further today.

I need to program a leading digit (7) for a hotel that has 3 digit and 4 digit room extensions. It's my understanding that extensions and mailboxes have to be the same length. In the past, I just programmed extension 100 as 7100 in form 9 and set up mailbox 7100 in form 50. Works great! However 4 digit room extensions, I cannot do that. If I add a 7 to both 3 and 4 digit room extensions, I now have 4 and 5 digit room extensions. That will not work.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry, doesn't look to me like I need to read the previous post to answer this question.

Mailboxes do not need to be the same length as the associated extensions.

Mailboxes need to be the length of the longest associated extension and all other shorter extensions need to be manually adjusted to match the correct associated extension

[pre]Room Number Extension Number Mailbox Number Mailbox Extension
701 7701 77701 7701 (manually set)
801 7801 77801 7801 (manually set)
901 7901 77901 7901 (manually set)
1001 71001 71001 71001
1101 71101 71101 71101[/pre]

You're the man, kwbMitel!

Thank you very much!!

Curious, can the same solution be applied to a MiVoice Business?

Yup, I've done this with both.

It can go the other way too where the Mailbox Number is shorter than the Extension

Using the above to illustrate

[pre]Room Number Extension Number Mailbox Number Mailbox Extension
701 7701 7701 7701
801 7801 7801 7801
901 7901 7901 7901
1001 71001 1001 71001 (manually set)
1101 71101 1101 71101 (manually set)[/pre]

I ran into a problem during PMS integration. When a 4 digit room is checked in via PMS, all is fine. The guest name is associated with the room number. The mailbox for that room number is activated. When checking in 3 digit room number, the guest name is associated with the room number, but the voice mailbox is not being activated. This only occurs on 3 digit extensions.

In form 9, I assigned a 7 to all 3 digit room numbers. In form 50, I assigned 77 to all 3 digit room numbers and only a 7 to 4 digit room numbers. For example, room 501 is extension 7501 but it's mailbox number is 77501 in form 50. The extension assigned to it in form 50 is 7501. Room 1000 is extension 71000 in form 9. In form 50, room 1000s mailbox number is 71000 and the extension number associated with it is 71000.

Surprisingly, the PMS company is telling me the issue is on my end but I don't quite believe it. Is there anything else that I need to program in the system in order to make the 3 digit room numbers' voice mailbox work?

Thanks,
Curtis

The PMS people need to know that the Mailbox numbers do not match the extensions

The mailbox interface is separate from the PBX interface and the digits dialled on each is different.

They are aware of this fact. I explained it to their tech while onsite.

Time to pull out the PMS emulator
