Trying to print CDE data to a pc running procomm plus. Not sure what procomm commands to use to capture.

I usually set it up as a ascii download and start both. I increase the timeout on the download IIRC

I think it is not possible with procom. Try Putty instead.

Procomm is fine and all but there are setup options at the front end and file location issues out the back end that make PuTTy far more attractive

Personally I setup CDE to the Telnet port.

If you use a Mitel default DB this is already done for telnet port 61328

The telnet window is much faster than 9600 baud and well worth the effort in time savings

logging in putty is a simple as selecting logging in the left pane and turning it on. You can easily name and designate a location for the file as well

Putty can be set to a COM port as well but then you have the 9600 baud restriction again

I also use procomm occasionally as I set it up years ago but PuTTy is the way to go.

Thanks for the input. I'll try puTTY.
whenever I have tried Procomm the format is a little hard to read and this copy is for the customer.

If it is for the customer, I import the text file into Excel and "prettify" it.

Thanks, my vocabulary has increased by one word today... yahoo
(prettify) Any day I learn something is a good day. And its only 8:55am
But I do like the excel import idea

If you import I will give you a couple of tips

Import only 1 form at a time, 1 per sheet works well as a copy and paste
Be familiar with how to use Text to Column function under the data tab to separate the data
For real usefulness know how to use the filters function to give your columns selectable sorting options
To earn "Prettify Guy" status

[li]Know formulas to combine/change fields into new formats - i.e. convert a name from Jill Smith to Smith,Jill or JILL SMITH to Jill Smith[/li]
[li]Know how to use conditional formatting to add color to highlight items based on criteria defined by you[/li]
[li]Know how to write/use macros to speed up data manipulation[/li]
[li]Know how to use data validation to prevent unintended changes to fields or to define inputs by lists of values[/li]

I could write a FAQ on this but this is not a MS office forum so the effort would be wasted. If you are quite skilled with Excel already and any of those list items are unfamiliar to you I can clarify. I do require that you be familiar with some of them already though as the time commitment to train all of those items is quite high

if you are at the PC with Procommm you can go into form 32 do a "display all" and it will ask questions like what cos etc that you want to display then before you are done do a Procomm capture, this normally on mine goes to a .cap file, then go into Excel and import the .cap file and clean it up, I do this often for our company and customers.
