SX-2000 End Of Sale

For the benefit of those not on the product bulleting mailing list, be aware that Mitel has formally announced the end of sale (EOS) for the SX-2000 Lite.

The Main Control & Peripheral Cabinets will be EOS in May 2009.

Product support will end in October 2015

Remember, the 3300 is simply LW37 - yes it's SX2K software. We are now running LW37... "la da dee-la da daa, life goes ooooonnnn..."

What about customers who want to install a 3300ICP with TDM phones via a Peripheral Cabinet? There's an awfully large installed base out there that would love to be able to migrate from the 2K to the 3300, but don't have the $$$$ required to re-wire every station for an IP phone.

Lundah, the secondary market is drowning in that stuff. While only prolonging the inevitable, a definite upside to hanging a TDM can off the 3300 is the TDM phones do not require any licenses (except for vm). It's also useful at those sites where you have a few very L-O-N-G cable pair runs but need a display-type set. We've a couple sites using pizza boxes through 1/2 mile of fiber.

I've heard thru the grapevine that the 3300 will soon support the sx200 peripheral cabinet for TDM sets. Needs to have a BCCII as I understand it.
