Hey all, well looks like I've got my little system doing just about everything I want (once again, thanks to all who helped)!!

I have 3 LS trunks, 2 are "allowed" to dial long distance but 1 i want to disallow.

There seems to be several ways to do this. I have ARS setup as well (and prob as basic) for a new comer such as me.

i know there is no "in a nut shell" version, and I've tried a couple things but I just can't seem to wrap my head around this whole ARS thing

Basically, I want trunk 1 to refuse LD but trunk 2 & 3 (and eventually 4) to allow it.

Here is some info on what I have done:

Are you using ARS or CO Trunk Key Appearances.

The form 46 entries suggest the latter.

The rest is superfluous if this is the case.

Regardless, ARS or Key, you will need to put the trunk in a different trunk group.

Hi, actually I have it set up as both (for learning/testing but will be clearing out the key items later).

I have moved trunk 1 into trunk group 2. Everything seems to be ok, but I am lost as to what to do next.

I've been using COR 1 as the restricted and COR 2 (or blank) for un-restricted.

Jim

With the ARS method you need to have routes setup for each trunk group. Typically you would setup 1 route for each call type for each trunk group.

Below is how I would set it up.

e.g.
For Trunk Group 1
Route 1 = Group 1 Cor 1 Mod 1 Overseas
Route 2 = Group 1 Cor 2 Mod 1 LD Calling
Route 3 = Group 1 Cor 3 Mod 1 Tollfree Calling
...
Route 9 = Group 1 Cor 9 Mod 1 Always Restricted

For Trunk Group 2
Route 11 = Group 2 Cor 11 Mod 1 Overseas Calling
Route 12 = Group 2 Cor 12 Mod 1 LD Calling
Route 13 = Group 2 Cor 13 Mod 1 Tollfree Calling
...
Route 19 = Group 2 Cor 19 Mod 1 Always Restricted

Route lists would be setup as

List 1 = Route 1 then 11
List 2 = Route 2 then 12
List 3 = Route 3 then 13
...
List 9 = route 9 then 19

The Cor Groups would be setup like:
Cor Group 1 - 2-25 (optionally 2-10, 12-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 2 - 3-25 (optionally 3-10, 13-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 3 - 4-25 (optionally 4-10, 14-25 see note 1)
...
Cor Group 9 - 1-25

Cor Group 1 - 1-25 (Optionally 1-10, 12-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 2 - 1-25 (Optionally 1-10, 13-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 3 - 4-25 (Optionally 4-10, 14-25 see note 1)
...
Cor Group 9 - 1-25

ARS Digits would be
Overseas Digits terminate to List 1
LD Digits Terminate to List 2
Local and Tollfree digits terminate to List 3
1-900, 1-976, etc terminate to list 9
911 calls designated as emergency go list 3 (Cor Ignored)

Cor Assignment for phones (form 9)
Phones that require Local only assign COR 3
Phones that are allowed LD and Local get COR 2
Phones that Are allowed Overseas, LD, and Local get COR 1
Phones restricted from everything (except 911) get COR 25

Note 1: Optional COR Restrictions
the optional COR restrictions would allow you to assign a COR to a phone that is allowed LD and Overseas on both trunk groups.

COR 11 can dial Overseas on both groups
COR 12 Can dial LD on bother groups
Cor 3 is allowed Local on both groups regardless (or use 13 if you want).

And before Paterson says it:

When it comes to COR groups, "If you're in, you're Out!"
Interpretation: If your Phone's COR is found in the Group, then access denied.

Wow, thanks muchly for the steps. I have applied them but oddly the system still acts the same as before any programming changes.

I am going to start right from the first step you've outlined to be sure I havn't made some simple error.

I'm sure this is out of the scope of these boards, but you've really got me wondering how/why the mitel "knows" how to act with those steps. For me, the key system steps make sense as they control the trunk directly.

But none the less, thanks again!!

Jim

If your in the group, your out of the call!

Oh, was that said already?

_______________________________________________________________

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Jim, I see an error above in my review. I was writing the above off the top of me head and it went thru a couple of revisions. Sorry.

Cor Group 11 - 1-25 (Optionally 1-10, 12-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 12 - 1-25 (Optionally 1-10, 13-25 see note 1)
Cor Group 13 - 4-25 (Optionally 4-10, 14-25 see note 1)
...
Cor Group 19 - 1-25

I will give you the call flow for the 4 calls described for clarity.

If you feel the urge to give me a star, I won't stop you.

Caller dials local call
Caller has Cor 1, 2 or 3
ARS digits match Route List 3
Route List 3 1st choice is Route 3
Route 3 has COR group 3 Assigned
System checks for Users Cor (1,2 or 3) Not Found
Route 3 Selects available Trunk from Trunk group 1

HI, ok thanks a bunch!! Have not had the chance to pop your directions in, but will be doing so tonight.

And of course you deserve a star, not totally use to this msg board.

Thanks again!!

Jim, thanks for the star, generally I make it a personal rule not to ask. Greater value that way. This post however has consumed a fair bit of time and represents years of knowledge.

I don't usually have the time for the stuff above but this week has been slow and you have shown a lot of courtesy in this and prior posts.

I'm happy to help you when I have the time.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Hi Jim,
An alternative step would be to :

Build two trunk groups in form 16:
TG#1 would be only LD trunks
TG#2 would be all trunks

Build dial plan in form 26
1. digits to analyze 1xxx with 7 to follow using route 1
2. digits to analyze 2 with 6 to follow using route 2
follow step 2 until you have 2-9.

Build routes form 23
Route 1 trunk group 1
Route 2 trunk group 2

This should work.

Jim,

Telecomp9434's solution does not work an a SX-200

You cannot put trunks in Multiple groups.
