Hello, I have a report with several parameters. I am still designing and building the report piece by piece, as we're just learning SSRS and starting to convert reports from Crystal 11. I go back and forth between Layout and Preview quite a bit as I am working. Other than temporarily hard-coding the parameters I have defined, is there a way to switch back and forth without having to re-enter the parameter information each time? Thanks for any insight.

Set the "Default" value for your parameters

This is also the way to control whether a report renders automtically in the live environment. If it has default params, it will not wait for user before running the report. If no default params, user must input params before report will run

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Thank you Geoff. This is exactly what I needed. And it seems a better option than hard coding the query and then having to go back and redo (and retest) the parameters. So much easier when designing!

Just be careful when you deploy as the default parameter will be set on 1st deploy. If you change or remove it in Vis Studio, it won't affect the settings in Report Manager so you will need to go into there to reset / remove any defaults
