Switchboard items & Workgroup files

Has anyone been able to use a switchboard with a workgroup file to hide buttons on their switchboard form? I am trying to do this by giving everyone in the admin group all buttons and the people in the change groups buttons 1,2,and 6.

I can think of where to start to get this to read to MDW file. I had this working if I check by username but that would be a lot of table entries.

Any ideas?
