customer is on two floors we have been using a single Cat5e cable to uplink from switch on the first floor to switch the second

we have two cat 5e cables from floor to floor

would there be any problem in plugging both cables into both switchs ?

In effect we would have two uplinks

the way I see it it would either make no diffrence isnthroughput or there would be a increase as there would be two paths switch to switch

It has been suggested to me that there MAY be conflicts

any thoughts ?

never mind just talked to the customer and he said it didn.t work

It will work if you get a switch with Link Aggregation. This feature allows two or more physical ports to function as a single logical port between a pair of switches.

Standard ethernet will not allow multiple paths, spanning tree will disable one path.

Multilink trunking, Etherchannels or Link aggregation is possible between two switches from one vendor that supports such a feature, but there is no standard.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
