I use a data entry form where I can often copy the previous record and paste the data into a new record. Is there any easy way to switch off the "You are about to paste x records" message box?

Have ayou tried the DoCmd.SetWarnings method ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

No I haven't.
The data is entered into a subform. Where do I put the DoCmd.SetWarnings code?

I wouldn't want to leave warnings off so any solution would require you to:
- click a button (or something) to set warnings off
- copy your record
- paste your record (with no warning)
- click a button (or something) to set warnings on

I'm not sure why you would want to do this. I expect you could use code to copy the record. This would give you more control and a single click or key combination.

OK so it sounds as though it is not that straightforward. The reason I asked is that this morning I pasted 30 records and had to clear the message box 30 times which I thought was a bit pointless.

I just tested this by copying 3 records to the clip board and then pasting them back into the form. I got prompted once to append 3 records.

What are you doing that you get 30 message boxes and I got only 1?

Sorry didn't explain myself.
I record the application of nutrients to a field (field as in farmers field not as in data field) and a number of fields can have the same nutrients applied.
I enter the data for the first field(farmers) and then copy the data, move to the next record(field) and paste the data and I get the "paste" message.
I then move to the next record(field) and paste and message again and then the next and so on.

I think you need to explain still more. When you state "move to the next record(field)" is this a new or existing record?

I would try to use an update or append query.
