The merlin messaging has the option to follow "switch mode" or "schedule." I have always used switch mode in conjunction with the night service button. Tech support recommends against schedule mode, but is not clear on why (something about a "reliable night mode"). Because my user has 3 operators there is a very "unreliable" night mode because all three must activate their night buttons.

Has anyone used the scheduling option in the Merlin Messaging? What are the pitfalls or gotcha's? Do you recommend for or against it?

If you follow "business schedule", the Operator extension's night service button will determine how many rings before the calls are sent to the automated attendant, (delayed if you have a delayed call handling group, and immeditate when the night button is on), but the business schedule will determine if the Day or Night message will answer the call. So during the day, the operator can put the system in Night mode, to send the calls immediatly, but still have the Day message answer.

If I read this right then we still have to have all 3 operators press the night button for after hours. We have QCC's and the calls NEVER go to VM during day hours.

What I am really after is multiple greetings used with a Holiday schedule. Any thoughts?

All the Mer Messg can do is play the three different autoattendants, there can be a temporary schedule as well, but it has to be turned on for each holiday. For a Holiday schedule, you'll need an Audix. TipHelp@charter.net
