Hi all,

I have several 3Com Switch 3900's. Some are on a different subnet in a different facility. I am unable to ping the switch from another subnet. I can ping the switch if I'm on the same subnet as the switch.

With other hubs and switches, when I configure the IP interface, I usually input the IP, subnet, and gateway. For this switch, there is no gateway to input. Could that be the problem? Do I have to setup routes in the routing table?

Not sure if there is enough info here for anyone to answer this question. Let me know what else I need. Thanks in advance.

you need a router to communicate between two diffferent subnets. If your 3900 is not a router itself that knows how to tallk to both networks, than you need to tell it where the router thet knows how to do that is. That is done by setiing the default gateway
