SWFs not importing

I have a main movie, where I have built a number of scenes and imported on SWF successfully already. I have now built another SWF and want to import it into the main one but it will not appear in the library (no error messages at all, simply nothing). If I add the SWF to the stage it will appear but not as a single movie; as individual parts with no animation remaining. Why?

Okay, I accept this (and am now looking in to it) but then why did my first SWF add itself to the library without issue but the next one wouldn't?

Equally you can have nested movie clips (which are treated as objects) and the library carries its own symbol for movie clips, so I'm not too sure you are correct.

It might be my definition. I have a main screen and on to one side I have an advert running which was created in Flash MX 2004 and has been exported as a SWF movie. The main screen this advert is on is in fact a scene on another Flash movie. Therefore I am using nested SWFs; something Flash tells me should be no problem. Or have I got this wrong? Sometimes Flash does some weird stuff.

Thanks for this. You have been proven absolutely right (though the tweens for the first SWF did follow through) and I am using the createemptymovieclip along with the loadmovie command and everything works fine; except that I cannot get the images to fade out as I have the text. I have done this by laying a white rectangle over the whole image area and then faded the cover from alpha 0% through to alpha 100%. However, obviously the SWFs are being added in code and so the cover concept cannot work. Any idea how to fade out a movieclip?

Well you could fade the container clip through actionscript, but your present method should also work if you make sure your cover is on a higher depth than the created movie clip.

At what depth have you set the created movie clip?

The actionscript is on a layer just below the cover image, so I thought this should work but then wondered if code worked independetly of layer (I'm probably wrong here and feel I am). It might be the loading time of the loadmovie SWF since this would place it's appearance outside of the fade in of the cover. Would I be right here?

In addition I have started to add fade in code to make the loadmovie load with an alpha of 0 and then fade through to 100. Would this work?
