SWF video makes Director program crash

On some machines (my computer does not have this problem) when the program reaches a .swf video, the video will play for a few seconds and then the video will freeze for a while and jump ahead, or just crash the Director program. Any ideas on how to fix this? I am using Director MX and will be upgrading to Director MX 2004 soon. Can upgrading fix this problem?
