SWF is still caching on my PC!

I have every anti-cache http equivalent code I can find in my HTML but it still insists on caching in my temporary internet files...when I publish changes it takes hours and sometimes a day or two before I can see the results. I clear out all the history and the cookies and the temporary internet files, I restart, I do the shift+refresh, I even pray at times when I feel like cussing, nothing seems to help.

This is absolutely driving me nuts. I went to microsoft's website and researched their info but it is about as clear as mud. They keep saying to use the cache cntrol header but are very evasive as to what it actually is. I have studied other websites codes and found 3 different mete tags which define expiration of files and no caching. I implemented these into my code but it is not working.

I did notice it is now showing an expiration date of "now" on my html files in the cache but my swf files show no expiration at all.

As far as I know my files are not being stored on proxy servers.

What am I missing guys...besides a few hairs?

Does this only happen at home?
I gather you're using IE 5.x?
You have tried delete files under Tools->Internet Options including oof-line content?

yes...I delete the offline files under the tools/options menu and also clear the history there as well. Then I go to windows explorer and delete all the files in cookies, history, and temporary internet files. I then delete them from the recycle bin. I then restart.

Is it possible it is only doing this here at my home computer? I have noticed it pulls up fine at work...of course... I work on the site and download the changes in the evenings and usually do not see the site at work until the next day.

I am using IE 5.5 with windows 98 Ya' Gotta Love It!

Is this on the church thing? On f2s?
Or... Tell you what!
Do you have a link of a small thing (for testing purposes) presently on the same server as this file you can't see updated before a few hours, you can give me so I can check it out... and then maybe update it, in the next 15 minutes, with a background color change or whatever, to see if I'll be able to see the updated file?

You're not alone with this problem. I logged in today for my first time in desperate search for the answer. I think I tried everything you tried and more. Your last post was on July 13. Did you ever get an answer? I'm hoping to solve the same problem - could you pass on the good news? Thanks!

I've experience the same problem, the only thing that works for me is once you're viewing the .swf in the browser hit refresh 5 to 6 times and press any button in your movie a couple of times then refresh the browser again and again.

I know it's not a very good trick, but, it did the job

I imagine a much time you've lost thinking your swf wasn't ok when it probably was....(i did)

cinesina ,

unfortunately no.... I never found the answer to this and it is as bad as ever. I have resorted to calling frieds and having them look at it to see if it has updated or wait and check it the next day at work.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news... ;-) Ya' Gotta Love It!
