I am trying to understand SWCA. I am converting from an old Key system, and they love the ability to page a person and say "john, pick up line 1". Only now we have a PRI, and no lines to assign as line 1, 2, etc. I am testing SWCA, and I don't see it take a line apearance, so if I have a set using 4 SWCA call check box's, what is the process for the reception desk. If she parks multiple calls, does she need any additional I/C buttons? or what.

Thanks

No she doesn't. If she parks it on a SWCA button, that button is used and frees up the intercom key. I usually use a park key with Feature *520 assigned to it and give all the sets SWCA buttons 1-4.

In your situation, I would set SWCA to auto assign for the life of the call that way the person who received the call can see what line it will be assigned to right away.

Here is how we normally set it up. We assign the SWCA keys to the phones and label them Call 1, Call 2, etc. so there is no confusion concerning dialing out. We set it to "Manual Life of Call". Customers like it better if "Invoke by Hold" is not turned on. If the system is a BCM50 and you have "Invoke by Hold" on then Vmail Transfer will not work (Tested on Rls1 & 2, but not 3). We explain to the customer that to dial out they pickup the handset, dial 9 and the number. We explain to the recept that when a call comes in she presses a Call key to place it on hold. That call key will flash on everyones phone. They then page and say "John you have a call on Call 1". This is just a visual of Call Park. We have customers that hate change and we have used this and they are satisfied.

I have spoken with Nortel on why that Vmail Transfer will not work when "Invoke by hold" is on on a BCM50. I have not received a good answer. It works on our BCM1000 and I have tested it on a 400 as well. My instructor in BCM50 school was amazed that it would not work and didn't know why either. We tested it in the lab. We used different settings to see if it made a difference but it just won't work.

Thank you guys. I have it working as call 1, call 2 etc. She just parks it on any swca button.
