SWC 4.5 Not supported by Microsoft to Run on Windows 2003 1

SWC 4.5 utilizes Web Servics that were written using the MS SOAP 3.0 Toolkit. The following MS Link

has stated that MS will not support SOAP 3.0 Server components on Windows 2003.

Guess what: SWC 4.5 installs the SOAPIS30.DLL on the app server and the SOAPIS30.DLL is a MS SOAP 3.0 Server component. All of you who are running SWC 4.5 App Server on Windows 2003 are in effect running a solution that MS does not support..:-(

But lets get something straight....It IS running. Did you really think you would get any type of helpfull support from microsoft if you had problems anyways?

I actually have it running on 2003 without any problems. I find it funny because Nortel actually suggested we run it on 2003 rather than 2000.

Yes it is running and Nortel has tested this to run on Windows 2003 BUT Microsoft does not support having the SOAPIS30.DLL on a Windows 20003 Server.

So if your running SWC 4.5 on a Windows 2003 Server, you are running a solution that Microsoft does not support. And who is bigger kid on the block? Nortel or Microsoft?

Nortel has to address this somehow...

Looks like MS now does support SOAP Toolkit on Windows 2003 BUT Microsoft does not recommend this !!??

Perhaps, Nortel needs to go to a solution that has full support from Microsoft ?? Like .NET ??

Anybody know what the product direction from Nortel is for this stuff ??

The SOAP toolkit that is used by Nortel is in extended support with Microsoft until April 2008, including support on 2003 Server. Nortel has an agreement with Microsoft that allows them to raise issues with the SOAP toolkit with Microsoft during the extended support period.

On the other hand, dangerboyII, we'll keep hoping...

Let's just all hope they decide on a proven, stable platform (such as any one of the **n*x variations) and get totally away from the existing problem child.
