I have installed Samba 2.2.8a from sources, on Suse 8.0. The smbd and nmbd daemons are running. However, I am not able to start swat, although there is a file named swat in /usr/local/samba/bin.

I will be using Bernstein's tcpserver and daemontools when everything works, but I suppose it should be possible to start swat manually as well. Any ideas anybody?

Hi

How about to uncomment the "swat. . . . "-line in /etc/inetd.conf.

And perhaps you have to start inetd with: rcinetd start.

that should work - now connect to port 901 on the machine with your root-password.

Have fun . . .;p
