I know this is a fairly simple task, but I would like to know the best way to do it. I have a defective I2004 set. I want to use a set from another location in the same office but I don't want to lose programing for either set. What is the best way to do this with minimal disruption to the IVR, and phone settings?

I'd do the following:
1. Remove the defective phone
2. Plug in the replacement phone (it should come up with the original - i.e. wrong - extension)
3. Go to the management GUI and change the MAC address configured for the wrong extension to 0
4. Save and apply settings (the replacement phone will indicate that it is not registered)
5. Go to the configuration page for the correct extension and use the MAC address drop down to select the unregistered phone
6. Save and apply settings (the replacement phone will come up with the correct extension)

Worked like a charm. Much easier than what I had planned to do. So when I get the new set can I assign it to the extension that has no phone without making changes? I would expect I will need to make changes to the actual set regarding Ip address, subnet mask etc.

Yes, You will need to set the S1 IP address and if you already are using DHCP, then press "Apply" after setting the S1\S2 and the phone will come up.
