I set up my frames to run the animation. It keeps looping infinitly though, how do I get it to stop and act as an interface (the animation is this menu system coming in and then being a menu after done animating) but it just keeps looping. Thanks again, I know I've been posting alot, I'm just in a rush for now and am slowly but surely learning.

A stop(); action somewhere maybe? Regards,

Thank you. Thanks oldnewbie, you've helped me alot lately. Another thing though, I have my button swapping when the mouse goes over and again when it clicks (the way I set it) in the work area, but when I publish, it does not show now that I have stopped at the end. But in the work area it does. Earlier I had it working as a button before I added the mouse over and click thing. Do you know what could cause this? Thanks again for everything.

Swapping as in the effect where when your mouse goes over the button, it will swap the Tint, Brightness, etc. and then there is also when you click you can adjust it, finally it's also the area that has the "hit" box area for where you can click and go over to 'activate' the button's change. It's just a rollover effect, just changes the button, not anything else. But when you click it runs the getURL action to open a page, but neither the getURL part or the rollover effect are working.

Guess it's too late! I should be in bed! You've lost me!
Maybe if you posted a .fla, by morning everything would clear up... Regards,

Dragged a new instance of your "symbol 3" button on another new layer, added the same code...

on (release) {
getURL ("}

And that one works. Doesn't do your swap thingy, but I could get it to do so... But not before morning! Regards,

You have a "button" (symbol3) inside your tutorials button. Start a new button from scratch, and only change the looks of the same garphic on every state but hit. Regards,

Ok, I am having problems still. If I am starting from scratch (no rollovers, no actions). I can add the actions to it if I rightclick on the timeline layer part and it'll work. This is after I've converted it to a button. Now, when I edit it, it no longer keeps it as a button but as seperate buttons. The only way I can modify the tint, brightness, etc. is to make it into a button again in the over part, and then AGAIN in the down. This makes lots of symbols and I think that's the problem. Then once I set the brightness or whatever you can't change it. Do you know how to do this since I'm importing the button and text? I don't think I'm doing this right and I'm pretty sure that's causing the problems and it's making it confusing. Thanks again.

You can't have a button inside a button! The up state(copied in the Hit state) should be a simple graphic. The Over and Down states should hold the same graphic but altered, colored, brightness or whatever. For text, you can simply add another layer over the graphic layer (leave the hit state clear on this new layer), and change the text for every state. Regards,

Ok, I have made it where the text is in a seperate layer. I uploaded the .fla file to The button I did setup is the "Tutorials" one. I can't get it where I can modify it without making it into a symbol within the button. It works on the work area, but not in production again. I figure it could be cause I HAD to make it a button within the button for the over and down frames. I also put actions onto it, and it doesnt run the getURL function. Could you please modify it or show me how to make it so the hover and click works since it will only let me modify it to change the tint and brightness when I make it a button. Thanks again.

I simply don't know how to explain it better than I already have.

Created a new button symbol. Copied one of your tutorial bitmaps in the up state, converted it into a graphic symbol. Did the same for the 2 other states and change the tint on each one of them. Added the title on another layer, and your actions on the button. Changed it to tek-tips, because your site was apparently down, but it all works as a charm.

Don't know what more to say!

Don't have room presently to upload it to one of my servers, you'll have to give me an address if you want me to send it to you.

If you don't want to post here, hit my handle, and send me your e-mail address to one of the e-mails you'll find there, and I will send you the file. Regards,

Ok, I think I understand what you did now. I thought you had to convert to a button to change the tint. Thanks! But if you could still e-mail me the .fla file (it's miketwalker@cfl.rr.com) that would be great. Thanks again.
