Swapping digital cards 1

I have 3 digital cards on my SL1 with nothing on them and I would like to disconnect them from our system. (Bell now charges service based on the number of cards and not the number of TN's used.) Can I simply pull out the card or is there something more complicated to do? Also If a card goes bad can I simple swap it with one of the good spare cards?

Make sure all the TNs are deleted off the card. Stat the card, it should come back as UNEQ. Disable the card. Yank the card out. Store the card somewhere safe until you need it. When a card goes bad, disable the card and put the good card in. Enable it, and you should be set.

Just out of curiosity, what is the part number for the card in question? I'm assuming NT8D02?

I have never done any card maintenance. How do I stat, disable, enable a card

We are using NT8D02EA and NT8D02AB with several different release numbers.

Login to the switch (LOGI, your password)
LD 32 or LD 20 (recommended 32)

STAT L S C U (L=Loop S=Shelf C=Card U=Unit) this will stat an individual TN

STAT L S C - This will give stats on all TNS on a card

DISC L S C - This will disable the card

ENLC L S C - This will enable the card

DISI L S C - This will disable the card one port at a time as long as the port is in the IDLE state.

L S C and U refer to numerical values associated with ports on the card. e.g. 004 0 01 00 would be the TN associated with Loop 4 Shelf 0 Card 1 Unit 0.

Other examples:
STAT 4 0 1 - this will give the status of the card on Loop 4 Shelf 0 in Slot 1 of the IPE module

DISC 4 0 1 - this will disable said card.
