Am trying to swap digital to analogue, have been trough the book and answered "Y" to extension relocation then plugged the extension in and nothing happened?? altough the book says it should.
Digital and analog don't mix. You need an ATA to convert the digital signal to an analog that the cordless phone can work with. Most of the time working with someone when they are asking questions will let us eventually get them working. I think you really need to get a tech out to help you.
If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

Know that but in the programming manual it suggests that you can swap a digital extension for an analogue one and visa versa by going into the programming answering y to extension relocation and then plugging in the type of telephone you require, either a digital or an analogue, the system will recognise the extension (after changing the wiring on the line jack to suit). Aftre one minute the handset will be operational.
the output of the system is still digital. then it runs to an ATA (a digital to analog converter) when you make the change you are suggesting you have to do it with like equipment(digital) not on tha analog side of the ATA.
the automatic set relocation automatically recognizes the different style of digital device.
Most tech's have the ATA hooked up in the phone room to keep the ammount of equipment that the customer has to contend with at the desktop to a minimum. you are kind of stuck with having to make the changes you want to between the ATA and the system.
If you have a Compact the ATA would probably be the Intermal ATA (IATA) and with that you cannot make set relocation swaps at all.
If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.
