My first thought is no, maintenance mode.

or can it be done?

Customer wants to get a PRI and link to Asterisk for now until they have enough money to purchase all IP sets.

The do not need the 12X0 anymore on the 2 port so they want to swap the 2 port for a Service Card for the PRI, I was thinking it wont like it and only way was to a 6Port Combo.
This would be rare I would think but does anyone know if it would work?.

Removing an expansion cartridge downgrades the system, just like you thought.

It would be easier to keep the existing expansion cartridge and add a new service cartridge.

No. The service cartridge can be installed on any software. The XC software is required only when a 6-port expansion cartridge is installed in Slot 1.

I have set up a MICS (not XC) with a service cartridge in Slot 1 and a 2-port expansion cartridge in Slot 2. It works just fine.

like multimedium says, just add the Service Card to what you have. As long as you are not removing anythong you are good.
