In a resilient config, if you put SW assurance on the primary, do you buy it for the secondary as well?

yes because the SW assurance to to allow you to get free upgrades. It's per application record

sorry

No need to apologize.... merely trying to chew through the straps and learn to navigate this new tool they gave me (sales workbench) ;-)

Ah i see. I find it quite nice, but i had used mpt for ages. Once you get used to it it's ok actually

SW assurance is required per application.

It also prevents charges from Mitel Tech Support if you have access.

Ahhhh... the new Tech Support credits (?) What happened to our old bank of credits? I don't think in all the years we ever had occasion to call them on something we weren't certified on, hence we never used any of our credits. Oh maybe once on an initial call for Speak@Ease I think they nicked us 1 credit.

That's how I understand it. Every time I call now they check the status of the AMC record. The time is billable if the site does not have SW assurance regardless of certification levels.

All the old systems that were sold prior to the new process and the AMC accounts activated before Jan 1, 2007 have been "Grandfathered" with SW assurance to OCT 1, 2010.

I have a feeling things will be a little chaotic when those systems start to lapse.

Additionally, if the site has lapsed for greater than some unknown number of days (I think about 30-60) then to re-up your service there is a Renewal Fee required as well.

I think it is not a good solution
With new software new things will work
Just like the cordless handset and headset
It works from 8.0 and if you want this you need to upgrade if you are on a lower version
People then decide not to upgrade because it will cost money if you do not have the assurance anymore
The upgrades should remain free, it does make more money

You're preaching to the choir.

Bottom line, All other vendors have similar processes and Mitel is looking for recurring revenue.
