I updated my Solaris from 2.6 to 7 using the installation option. I restored the database disk and all other data from backup tapes. The OS is running fine but now (after switching to the Oracle log on) I can not get into svrmgrl. Here is my login and the message I get:

unixprompt% svrmgrl
svrmgrl: Command not found

Please advise.

The executable for svrmgrl is found in the {OracleHome}/bin directory. Please check that it is still there. If it is, then you are probably having a problem with the path variable that determines which directories are searched for commands.

Also, be sure that when you pulled the files off tape, that they aren't all owned by root. If they are, either change the ownership of oracle-related files back to the oracle user, or grant executable rights to the oracle user using chmod.
