when i opened illustrator today CS2 it showed a warning that i'm
missing an svg plug in, didn't pay close enough attention, so closed
illustrator thinking when it reopened it would give same message,
so i could figure it out, but it didn't..
reworked a file and saved it..seems okay...
anyone know whats going on there?
thanks ...

...probably just illustrator throwing a wobbly, if it occurs often when launching illustrator on a regular basis, then try trashing the preferences file on launch by pressing:

command/control + alt/option + shift

...this resets the preferences to the default and rebuilds a new file, overwriting the existing...

they are stored here on windows:

Windows XP and 2000
Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings/AIPrefs

Windows Vista
Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings/AIPrefs

==============
and here on mac:
users > [user name] > library >preferences > Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings > Adobe Illustrator Prefs
==============

...sometimes if just resetting this file doesn't work you have to remove the entire settings directory/folder "Adobe Illustrator CS2 Settings" (ensure illustrator is not running)...

...then launch illustrator to rebuild it...

...SVG plugins are scalable vector graphic effects found under the effect menu, typically used for mobile devices and the web to ensure small file sizes, more info on SVG in the help section of illustrator and here if interested:
