svchost

Hello,
Is it common to have multiple instances of svchost.exe running on a machine. Looking at task manager, I see many (7 or 8) instances running at any one time. Some are for different user names, but there are a few for the System user name alone.
Any input would be appreciated.

After using this tool, everything that svchost is running seems perfectly normal.
