sv8500 ck20 and ck16

Is there anything special about the clocking cards in the 8500.
Can you mix them or do you need to have the same for both sides..
Also, If the alarm 0 and alarm 1 lights are on, what does that mean?

Note: Using different PLO cards at PLO#0 and PLO#1 is not allowed, per the circuit card manual.
CK16-A
ALM0 Note 1 Red Lights when clock failure has occurred in the CLK card.
ALM1 Note 1 Red Lights when FH failure has occurred in the CLK card.
Note 1: This lamp is not used.
CK20
Note: This circuit card can be used with PH-CK16-A/PH-CK16-D only. Other PLO cards cannot
be used with this circuit card regardless of whether PLO#0 or PLO#1.

Not sure if there really are any issues. I haven't looked at a 2400/8500 in over a year and I am rusty with the cards.
so they only have one side right now. They don't have the sw12 cards for the 2nd side. They had 2 bad lightening strikes that blew all their controller cards and they only replaced 1 side the last time.
It has been like this for over a year and this ck20 card is showing alm0 and alm1 to be in alarm. They originally had two ck16s - 1 for each side but they lost of them and it was replaced with the ck20.

That MJ alarm LED indicates a major alarm condition. Have you read the alarms? DTFT, or DFTDX?

no. I haven't. I will email them and get them to look at it.

The alarm could be because they no longer have a redundant CK-20 card in the system.

So should if they decide to fill in the second side with the missing sw12, should we get another ck20 or leave the ck16 that is there, in there?

I suggest the newer CK20. It's been improved in some way and you would want to keep them the same versions.
