I have been reading through various documents on the SV8500 and its related hardware. I keep encountering references to "PH" or "Internal PHI" or "Internal PHE" and have no idea what the abbreviations mean. Could someone assist?

For instance: ADPM command in PCPRO
"Initialize the MGC (PHI)."
PH TYPE = Internal PHI (BRI)

What does any of the above refer to? I use PCPRO and realize ADPM is a command but what is MGC (Media Gateway Converter?), PHI, BRI?

At a glance, would someone define these?
SP-PHD
SP-PHI
Internal PHE
Internal PHI

PH = protocol handler. I = internal, E = external.
MGC = media gateway controller.
BRI = basic rate interface
PRI = primary rate interface
SP = system processor

Thank you for your response!

Internal PHE is
Internal Protocol Handler External?
What does that mean?

This is from a 2009 doc so it may be outdated:

Internal PHE
Internal PHE is built-in PHE function that can be used by assigning system data, and it also provides a channel
between the telephony and SIP functions of the SV8500 Server. There is no hardware required for the Internal PHE. Analog MC, IP-BS, H.323 Gate Keeper and VS-32 are controlled by PHE. PHE circuit card and Internal PHE can coexist in the same system.

MPH
MPH (Multi Protocol Handler) is the collective name for PH functions implemented in the SV8500. MPH
controls and monitors the status of the PHs.

SP-PHD
SP-PHD is a PHD function embedded in the SV8500 Server that can be used by assigning system data. There is no hardware required for the SP-PHD. SIP terminals/IP terminals such as DtermIP (Proprietary Protocol/SIP), Soft Phone (Proprietary Protocol/SIP) and DtermIP INASET can be controlled by SP-PHD.

SP-PHI
SP-PHI is a PHI function embedded in the SV8500 Server that can be used by assigning system data. There is no hardware required for the SP-PHI. Used for ISDN – MGPRI and MG-COT units.

Internal PHD
Not supported with SV8500. In reference to SR-MGC; only the 2U SR-MGC is supported with SV8500 Server. Therefore, Internal PHD is not required for the SR-MGC function.
