OK, I have 44 DT-700 phones connected to a SV8300. (latest and greatest software, latest and greatest firmware on phones).
pretty basic setup, however. I have had approximately 6-7 phones that for lack of better words seem to go to sleep. displays look good, time seems to be correct, date ect..
however if you pick up receiver or hit speaker you get no dial tone. no green light for line appearance, no DTMF, no battery, nothing. Using IP Manager to look at the phones they look fine. able to preform hard or soft reboot's the phones come back and work fine. only one phone has done this more than once. phones are in a separate V-LAN on 2 switches w/ common router. system has been in production approximately 2 months.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Browse to the IP assigned to the phone & make sure you get the login page for that phone to see if something else on the network has grabbed that IP.

Also, what happens if you try to call one of those phones while it is locked up?

1) No duplicate IP's
2) Calling station hears ringing. called station only shows standard display.

However an Update: Time and date was reported as updating, this is false. Time and date stop while locked up. ARP table has valid reservations and you can ping phone while in this state. IP tracing shows no activity between phone and switch. Monitoring other working phones for stare and compare as I feel there should be traffic between phone and switch even while idle. TESTING CONTINUES......as well as my saga. thanks for the interest, all suggestions welcome!

also new firmware just released 2/12/10 will be updating later
