I need an IP product in place to remove an old IVS2000. I was told IVS, IVS2, and IPS are out the door? We currently use Dterm Series E units at this site and by our vendor we cannot use the same terminals on the 8100 but can use them on the 8300? any recommendations on which platform? Phone count 50, analog count 30. Thanks Chinolee

From a price standpoint it will be pretty close. The 8300 is more expensive but you can use the existing terminals, where the 8100 is significantly cheaper. Also, depending on what voice mail you are using you may be able to integrate it to the 8300.

Regarding functionality, the 8300 will be exactly what you are used to with the 2000 (obviously with added features). The 8100 will work completely different and most users would argue it is more friendly. For my 2cents though I would go with the 8300. In my experience it seems much more bulletproof especially with IP and advanced applications.

I've requested proposals on both platforms but I needed someone who's actually worked on either of them. Is the 8300 GUI based or is their a command line like Cat mode?

Both systems use a version of PCPro for programming and maintenance. The 8100 version is a little more GUI friendly than the 8300 version. The 8300 version is more of an enhanced version of the IPS MAT, however it offers less in the way of a GUI interface than the IPS MAT did. You still will need some system knowledge or training to navigate through the PCPro for the 8300.
