Hello,

I am not an engineer well versed on the NEC system. The only system I have used prior this was Shoretel and it seemed much simpler. My problem is our main number rings in on 3 phones here, and whoever is available picks it up. On Shoretel this is called a hunt group. Not sure if its the same for NEC. Recently, one of our users in this group had a change in phone behavior. Now when the phone rings, if she wants to answer, she cant simply pick up the handset and say hello, she has to pick up the handset then press one of the buttons on the phone. I think the button is named "incoming" and then she can say hello. The other two phones in the group do not exhibit this behavior and they still work as normal. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We would need to know what NEC system first. The different flavors of NEC operate and program differently.

I specified SV8100 in the post title. Is that not what you mean by system? Sorry I am very new to NEC.

Yes you did, excuse my oversight (OOPS). This feature is called ringing line preference check command 23-03 for the phone in question. Also check 15-02-10.

So what should I look for on these menus? If I go to her extension in the drop down menu, it shows a table with extension numbers down one side, and modes 1-8. every single field in this table is set to zero.

Also on 15-02-10, I compared her settings to another user in the same group and they are identical except for the line that says 21 - Virtual Extension Access Mode when Press Idle Virtual Extension Key

The user with the problem has DSS listed, while the working correctly user has IGNORE KEY listed.
