Suspend and resume event generators

Hello,

how can I suspend and resume event generators (timer, rdbms) from an external java application (running in it's own jvm). What I found are some exmamples how to create, delte retrives and display EGs via JMX / MBeanHome. Which Part of BEA docs do I have consult? Are there any examples / ebooks / tutorials regarding this topic?
