I have looked through the help index, and don't see an explanation of "Suspend Alarm"
Could someone explain what it actually does. Is it similar to "dismissing" an alarm?

If you are talking about the Suspend Alarms button on reminders this may help:

Working with the GoldMine Alarm
If you have activated the alarm for a scheduled activity, GoldMine displays an alarm at the designated time before the activity is scheduled to occur. For example, if you have set GoldMine to display the alarm ten minutes before an activity scheduled for 10:00 a.m., the GoldMine Alarm dialog box appears at 9:50 a.m.
The GoldMine Alarm dialog box contains the following information about the scheduled activity:

Contact

Name and organization of the contact for whom the activity is scheduled.

Subject

Entry from the Reference field of the activity, such as Introduction Call.

Time

Time block scheduled for the activity, such as 4:00 pm - 4:15 pm.

Activity

Type of activity scheduled, such as Call Back.

Phone

Phone1 telephone number and Extension for the contact.

Notes

Freeform information entered in the Notes field of the activity record.
You can select one or more of the following options to perform operations from the GoldMine Alarm dialog box:

Notes

Changes the GoldMine Alarm display to display or remove the Notes field. By default, GoldMine displays notes.

Suspend Alarms

Closes the GoldMine Alarm dialog box, and disables the alarm for the current work session only. That is, GoldMine will not display alarms for the current activity or any other activities.

View Contact

Displays the record of the contact for whom the activity is scheduled, and closes the GoldMine Alarm dialog box.

Complete

Displays the Complete dialog box for the activity, from which you can record the conclusion of the activity. GoldMine closes the GoldMine Alarm dialog box.

You can dispose of the alarm by selecting one of the following options:

OFF

Removes the alarm for the scheduled activity.

Snooze

Displays the Snooze Alarm dialog box, from which you can set a later time and/or date for the alarm to reappear.

Ignore

GoldMine "snoozes" the alarm for one minute; that is, the alarm closes then reappears after one minute elapses.

Delete

Deletes the scheduled activity, and closes the GoldMine Alarm dialog box.
