I have a p4p800 Asus Motherboard. I have had the on-board sound disable for about a week and it runs fine. I have installed the latest soundMAX drivers from the Asus webpage. I have direct x and ran all tests and all passed with no errors.

Does anyone have any idea what my next step should be. No sound kinda scks!!

Thanks

Sounds a bit like the problem i encountered. Please have a look at the following thread

thread602-847789

the link provided by freestone might help. By the way, what operating system are u using?

WIN2K. PENT4 3.0, 1228DDR RAM. RADEON 9200 128MB.

Also this only happens while playing City of Heros.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to only one possiblity.

I will go home and try to flash my BIOS with an update from ASUS. If that doesn't work. I am SOL i think. I have googled as much as I can. Any help would be appritiated.

OOP- respectfully your issue was concerning xp during istallation. I have had the same MOBO and setup for approximatly 3 years now and no errors. I have a image of my setup and I format every 3-6 months. This is the first encounter I have had in the 2+ years of re-imageing my computer.

Thanks for that link though It was a good read/knowledge. I personally refuse to run xp on my machine.

how do you come to 1228mb ram?
is that was windows reports or bios?

here what i found:

STOP 0x000000D1(0xBBC1E6EE, ...) Driver Irql_not_less_or_equal.
The "IRQ_LESS..." BSOD is IRQ conflict between hardware.. ie. two PCI cards sharing the same IRQ.. although Win2K/XP ACPI will set every card to IRQ 9, you should try to check your vendor for the mainboard BIOS setup, and the physical PCI layout of the mainboard. Usually there are PCI slots who will physically share IRQ's (impossible to change in any way.. limit by the chipset), and avoid using cards that don't like to share IRQ's in these slots..
Ex: Mainbard shares PCI slot 4&5 and 3&6.. (and of course PCI1 and AGP). Then you should avoid using cards in BOTH slot 4&5.. no card in PCI1.. and so on.. If you HAVE to.. make sure this is a card that can share IRQ without problems.

Error Message: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL:
caused by faulty device drivers

you can avoid these irq sharing by installing the computer as a normal pc (instead of acpi pc) but then you have only 15 irq´s.
anyway, check irq/memory conflicts (msinfo32), it´s better to try everything.
if you need more your welcome to come back :)

If the errors occur only while playing that game then look for patches for the game. I had one that always glitched the sound and crashed sometimes until I went to the game website and downloaded the updates.
