I'm currently running win2k and was just using Kazaa. I assume this problem has been encountered due to Kazaa as I know it allows pop up windows to appear as part of its adware.
The problem is basically this...
A new window appeared on my desktop, only I didn't recognise it at first as it didnt appear to be a window.
The background of the seemingly empty window is set as my current desktop image complete with all icons in their correct places.
The window has no title bar or "side" bars around the left, right and bottom of the window so it's basically invisible.
It initially positioned itself covering my entire screen, minus the task bar.
I only recognised it as when i moved my mouse over it it turned into a hand icon instead of the usual mouse pointer.
I decided to try and grab the top of the window where the title bar would usually be found and low and behold the thing moved away and my real desktop was revealed.
As I was dragging the window and finally repositioned it somewhere else on my desktop it did however change the image inside it to correspond with whatever view of my real desktop was currently underneath its position. So basically it turned invisible again.
This thing isn't listed in the win2k task manager and when i move the window about a bit to get the processor working at redrawing the "false" desktop image within the window the only process within the task manager to increase in processor usage is explorer.exe.
I'd like to know what the hell this is - if anyone's encountered this before.
How I can counteract it, i.e. make sure I don't get it again.
and what the cause of it is - did kazaa actually load it and if so where did it come from?
Obviously what I've told you here isn't sufficient to answer these questions if you haven't seen this kinda thing before, but any input would be appreciated!
