During the init process for run level 1 (one) or 5 (five), where does one put the link to point to a file that contains the 'oninit' start for something like the Informix Database Engine? Conversly, where would the shutdown for the engine be placed? I mean in the '/etc/?' directories. %-)

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Don't know about informix but for oracle you put a file in /etc/rc.d/init.d/<startup script>
also you need to run chskconfig command to run the damen as well.
Hope this helps.
