Does anyone know where I can get an ISO image of the latest Suse release? I do not know of Suse making an ISO image, but perhaps someone has found a site which offers it.
They have a Suse 7.3 evaluation copy. It states that...
"SuSE has chosen to not make freely available an installable i386/ Intel version of their Linux distribution. They do, however, make an installable version available for the Sparc architecture, meaning Sun computers. The i386 version is a demo, uninstallable, evaluation Linux OS."
Yes, Suse have taken the policy of making the current versions of their distro quite hard to get hold of simply because they want to get everyone to buy the boxed sets. It is also known that, unlike many other distros, they don't like new Suse versions being put on magazine cover CDs and so on either.
As far as I know, this is still in accordance with the GPL which doesn't insist that people distribute via ftp and allows charges to be made for distribution media, etc.
Hmm, that's the same message on the Suse site fluid11, don't know why they have all other versions but Intec/AMD as ISO images. Don't know about being allowed to do it or not, but I don't like it. Other distros don't do this and have no problem. I suppose I could try copying the CD to the hard disk and work somthing out though. No need to do that though as the Tucows link is being downloded now. Thanks ChrisP
