I have just taken the plunge and got suse 9.1 pro to try on my laptop that had windows 2000 fat32 format on it. I loaded suse okay. It asked for administrator user name & password, which I gave it. When I restarted the laptop I tried to access windows 2000 but got the message file NTLDR could not be found. I then tried starting suse but at the start where the clock shows, it asked for user name and password. I assumed it wanted the administrator ones but it just said logon failed.
I then re-formatted the drive just in case windows 2000 was causing the faults but after installing suse again, using the same user name and password for administrator, I still got the same message about logon failed.
I thought Linux was supposed to be easy but I seem to have problems. Any suggestions please.

The Linux "administrator" login is 'root'. 'Root' should only be used for machine administration - not for day to day use.

When you install Suse, it should prompt you to enter a password for root. It probably asks you to add 'normal' users as well. It will not import the Windows User IDs / Passwords.
