I built a suse 10.3 server with raid1, works fine. I'm going to host the site at my home, redirecting through a dyndns.org name. It works fine, just a splash page there but it appears.
I just installed smf forum and wordpress blogs, so and But, I cannot access them. If I type in all I get is the main splash page.

Would this be something to do with the domain registration? Do I have to forward every folder as well? Or should I be creating subdomains for each addon for the site?

Is there any way around the MX for my site so I can host email as well with a dynamic ip?

Thanks.

What do the error logs show? Does the apache user have the correct permissions to access those directories and the files within them?

If you have access to the mx record for the domain, just point it to your dynamic dns name.

No you don't have to create sub-domains in this case. If /forums and /blogs are in the DocumentRoot (html directory), then you don't have to create a directory container for them either. You do however need to restart httpd any time you edit httpd.conf. As for the MX records, you are a sub-domain of dyndns.org. They have control over those dns records. It is possible for them to point mail for your sub-domain to your server but whether they do it is up to them so you will have to ask. Sometimes you don't know what a toad is going to do until you poke it with a stick.

It's weird, I originally had the server installed at a clients on it's own dedicated IP address. The A record worked fine and all of the site worked, was superfast. I realized they wouldn't have the monthly bandwidth for it to run so I removed it and took it home. I have a 10 meg line and 100 gigs a month transfer limit.

I'm really not sure if the problem is with the forum or the blogs, or just something in the apache setup but they worked fine on the dedicated ip but for some reason, not under the dynamic. It always flips back to the main splash page.

Do you have this site setup as a virtual host in httpd.conf or are you using the "main" server settings. That is, are you using the DocumentRoot already defined in the main section? It usually does what it's doing when it can't find the vhost (defaults to main server) or can't find the index page. Since you specify the index, it is safe to assume it can't resolve the ServerName.

Is the machine's IP address the same as it was in the previous location? Similar to RhythmAce's thoughts: Are the [correct] IP addresses defined in each virtualhost?
