I am trying to install SUSE 8.1 on an IBM x235 ServeRAID server. When I get to the YAST2 installer, I get an error under Software. It says "No base selection Available. ERROR: No Proposal".

I have tried aborting and restarting the installation from the Linuxrc console and that does not help. Has anyone run across this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?

Thank you in advance!

Have you tryed installing in text mode ( aka YAST ) ? That installer may not be the cutest, but it works. I also suggest going to suse.com and putting the error in the search box, you might find something about that perticuliar problem.

Thank you for your response. I have tried that solution and it still doesn't work. I am going to give 8.2 a try.

That issue is fixed in SuSe 8.2. I'm surprised it didn't work though. I've seen the problem many times on SuSe 8.1 installations and its always wored for me. Good luck with 8.2.

fyi, SuSE 9.0 is due out 10/24. I'm a big Red Hat fan, but I'm a little scared of the direction RH is going ever since they merged RHL into Fedora. I'm going to give some alternatives a try just in case Fedora sucks.
