I have prior experience working with RedHat 5-6.2 and was able to get ip masq and firewall to work allowing my linux box to act as the router for my personal network.
I switched to SuSE reading that is was a better distribution, but be that as it may most of the docuemtnation out there refers to RedHat. I can get my windows machien to see both nics [internal netowrk and external DHCP assigned] but nothing past. When i activate the firewall within SuSE i cannot get the windows machien to see even the internal network.
i have begun to look for a porxy server but would rahter get this working. Can anyone help me get the ip masq to work?

Which firewall do you use? Depending on the kernel it might be ipchains(2.2.x) or iptables(2.3.x). If I got it right, you want to use IP-NAT to connect the internal boxes with private IPs over a router to the internet?
Please let us know. regards

yes i want to use Ip-NAt.
If i am readin everyhtin correctly i am running 2.2.x kernal.
I want to masq my interanl ip address.
Exact Setup is Roadrunner connected to eth0.
Eth1 is connected to hub for interanl network. Windows box is connect to hub. Can ping both nic from windows machine and vice versa. CANNOT ping if i start the SuSE firewall. If I use 3rd party firewall, [firestarter] i can stil ping.
Windows machine cannot get out to the net so i believe my ip masq is thenproblem but am unsure where to go with SuSe

Basically you need to know what firewall you are using. Maybe there's a file /etc/ipchains-rules? I think you'd better take a look at some howtos, there you will find everything ybout your problem. Check out there's lots of stuff concernig firewalls and dial-up routers! regards
